Have you ever ever been requested to maneuver a web-based dialog to a different – and supposedly safer – platform? This system, usually utilized by romance scammers, was not too long ago used towards numerous Indian and Pakistani netizens, presumably with a navy or political background. The focused marketing campaign – courtesy of the Clear Tribe APT group and described in detail by ESET researchers earlier this week – distributed CapraRAT backdoors through trojanized safe messaging and calling apps branded as MeetsApp and MeetUp.
